     Prof. Pakdee Pothisiri, Commissioner of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC), presided over the workshop on “Recovery of Assets Derived from Corruption in Accordance with the UNCAC”, organized by the Office of the NACC on 28 January 2009 at the Siam City Hotel, Bangkok. Among the distinguished speakers at the workshop were Dr.Visoot Tuvayanon, former Thai Ambassador to Portugal ; Pol.Col. Seehanat Prayoonrat, Acting Secretary–General of the Anti-Money Laundering Office; and Mr. Torsak Burana-ruengrot, public prosecutor. The workshop was held in order to ensure that Thailand fulfills its obligations under the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC).

     The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) welcomed Mr. Mostafa Metawaly and representatives from the Administrative Control Authority (ACA) of the Arab Republic of Egypt on their official visit to Thailand from 14 – 23 November 2008. In connection with this, Prof. Pakdee Pothisiri, NACC Commissioner, presided over a joint seminar for the two agencies on the topic “Operation and Management of Branch Offices”. ACA representatives also visited several places of interest in Thailand .

     The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) collaborates with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime's (UNODC) Regional Office for East Asia and the Pacific to encourage anti-corruption activities. The NACC and the UNODC signed a Memorandum of Understanding in June 2008 to pave the way for Thailand to fulfill its obligations under the terms of the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC), with the two agencies working together as partners. Under the MoU, the UNODC is to place an anti-corruption mentor with the NACC for 12 months as from April 2009. (More..)

     At the 13 th International Anti-Corruption Conference (IACC) held in Athens , Greece , at the end of last year, it was announced that the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) will host the 14 th IACC in Bangkok in November 2010. In his formal acceptance speech made in front of around 1,500 delegates, Mr. Panthep Klanarongran, President of the NACC, promised that the next IACC in Thailand will be a memorable occasion.
